The cost of corporate event music,
factor by factor.
Holiday parties, launches, client dinners and conferences each ask something different of a DJ or band, and the price depends on the ask. Here's what moves the number, so your budget holds up and your bids compare cleanly.

The date
Fridays and Saturdays in December are the most requested nights of the year for company parties, and the rest of December isn't far behind. Weeknights outside the holidays leave the most room in price and in choice of artist.
Hours and format
A cocktail-hour set, a dinner set and a full dance party are different bookings. Most artists price by the event, so a short slot doesn't shrink the cost evenly.
The lineup
A DJ is the leanest way to carry a room. A live musician over the DJ's mix adds presence to a reception, and a band brings the most energy.
The venue and sound
Ballrooms, rooftops and offices differ in sound, load-in and rules. Union venues, freight elevators, early setup windows and noise limits add time, and some rooms have a house system while others need sound brought in.
The program
Announcements, awards, a speaker's microphone or a band that learns a requested song all add work. Share the run of show up front and every artist bids on the full picture.
Lead time
Planners who book in early fall get the widest choice for December. Inside the last few weeks, many in-demand artists are already committed.

Common questions
How much does a DJ cost for a corporate event?
It depends on the date, hours, lineup and venue far more than on any rate card, which is why Q Music solicits individual bids for your event instead of a standard package. Share your date, run of show and the feel you want, and vetted artists who match your style and format parameters bid on that exact night.
How far in advance should we book entertainment for a holiday party?
As soon as the date is set, ideally in early fall for a December Friday or Saturday. December is the one month entertainment supply can genuinely run out, and a bigger budget can't free up a calendar that's already full.
Do we need to provide sound equipment?
Often not: many venues have a house system an artist can use, and where there isn't one, artists bring sound sized for the room; note your venue's setup in the inquiry so every bid covers it. Providing sound and equipment usually lowers the costs for the artist, and thus for you.
Is a band worth it over a DJ for a company party?
It depends on the room and the goal: a band makes a strong centerpiece for a seated dinner or awards night, while a DJ keeps a dance floor moving and adapts to the crowd. A DJ with a live musician is a popular middle ground.
Can Q Music invoice us as a single vendor?
Yes: you contract and pay Q Music, one vendor for every artist on the booking, so your team issues no individual artist payments or 1099s. Pay free by ACH, or use a credit card with our low 2.9% fee. Wire options are available as well, for a fee.
How do we set an entertainment budget for a corporate event?
Decide what the music needs to do, whether that's background for networking, a dance floor or a show, then the hours and lineup, since those drive cost. If your budget is set, include it with your inquiry so the bids fit; if it isn't, leave it blank and the bids will show you the range for your date.
Which cities does Q Music cover?
Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Detroit, and their respective surrounding areas, with one team and one contract wherever your event is.
